Home Sweet Home

After leaving the nice little caravan park at Goolgowie we headed for Hay.  We had a nice sunny day to cross the Hay plain which we have done many times.  We are now only a day away from home.

Our next stop was at Balranald where we stopped for lunch at the Ex Servicemans Club.  We enjoyed a very good meal here at a good price.  Balranald is in the Riverina area of New South Wales.

Hay is located about half way between Adelaide and Sydney.  We stopped at Hay for a quick break before we headed off across the Hay Plain.  We have travelled this road many times before and although it is a long and flat road we always enjoy the drive.

We were looking forward to our overnight stop in Buronga, near Mildura,  on the River Murray .  We arrived there around 3 o'clock and were planning  to sit outside in the sun,  having a drink while enjoying the last night of our holiday.  Well it didn't quite work out as well as we hoped.  The first site we were told to set up on was not even large enough for our van, so back to the office and they gave us another site where we would not have to unhitch, just what we wanted.  We stopped at the site and neighbours there told us that another van had tried to get onto that site and couldn't fit in as it was on a very tight angle with trees adjacent, so Ron backed in and out and in again but couldn't get next to the slab.  We had a lot of interest from nearby campers and finally decided that near enough was good enough!  By this time it was late afternoon, we were both a bit frustrated to say the least,  but we managed to get a drink which was really needed after all the hassles, and then it started to rain so instead of enjoying the sun we retreated to the van.

Caravan Park at Buronga, Mildura

We left Buronga after a rainy night and were on the road home.  We were surprised at how green everything was as we drove through  the Barossa Valley.  As we have spent the last 7 weeks in very dry country, most of which was in drought, it was lovely to see green hills.

We had a good trip back through the Barossa Valley and arrived home mid afternoon, but it was good to be home safely.  The next few days were spent unpacking, washing, cleaning the van and catching up with family and friends.

Now, we will have to start planning our next adventure!

How wonderful to see some green ; it must have been a nice surprise. Love all your photos 😃
The sites in some caravan parks are so tight you really need to be able to shrink the van to get it in.
I loved the sculpture park. Sometimes it's easier to just do what you have to do to get parked, but sure sorry it rained on your parade once you parked. There's something about color that just brightens your day - I'm sure that's how the green grass for you. Your adventure was great. I too am always ready to start planning the next trip. Good luck and I look forward to following along.
