Rosie - so many different vistas from your trip. I was especially interested in the cattle drive. Looks like they were causing a few challenges for vehicles? And what sort of cattle is that? I have never seen a cow with drooping ears! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!
Angie - There were about 1700 cattle on that drive, and it took a long time for us to get through going at walking pace so as not to scare the animals. A lot of cars and trucks in both directions too. I think the cattle breed is Brahmans, there were a lot of herds of them in Qld. They seem to be a very placid cow and I think they are pretty!
The Burdekin Weir was lovely and like an oasis as we had not seen much water in the other rivers in the north of Qld. It is so dry but the Burdekin River was flowing reasonably although it will be much more in the Wet season.
We were supposed to go through outback Queensland on our recent trip but then decided to come from NT straight down to SA so we could fly over Lake Eyre. Next time! Happy travels and thank you for visiting my blog this week

ReplyDeleteI used to have a horse and loved to watch the cowboys doing roping competitions. - Margy
ReplyDeleteWe didn't get to the Rodeo in Mt Isa as it is booked out for months ahead, and it is the largest in the Southern Hemisphere and profits go to charity.
DeleteWe live in an amazing but dry country
ReplyDeleteDiane - yes it was very dry everywhere, and now the fires. Very sad, but they will no doubt have flooding in the Wet season!
