Roses at Renmark

Image
We have spent the last  5 days in the Riverland enjoying the Renmark Rose Festival.  It was a spur of the moment decision to get away for a few days.  The day we left was around 39C which was ok for travelling with a/c in our Landcruiser.  We booked into the Paringa Caravan Park which is only a few km out of Renmark as we didn't want to stay in one of the large, crowded parks in Renmark as the Rose Festival is a tourist attraction for this area and the parks were booked out.  The Paringa caravan park was great, not at all crowded and friendly owners who kept the park very clean and tidy. After settling into the caravan park we drove back into Renmark and had a walk around the riverfront area.  They have made a lot of improvements in the last few years since we have been there and we enjoyed seeing the roses and the sculptures in the gardens, although it was so hot and the roses had wilted in the heat.  Next morning we headed out to visit one of the Open Gardens on display

Our World Tuesday Over the last few years I have taken photos of the many vineyards here in South Australia and also in other states and in the different seasons.   I hope you enjoy the photos and maybe a glass or two as well. The Riverland, South Australia

We have just spent a long weekend in Lake Bonney, Barmera.  For those of you who aren't familiar with this beautiful part of South Australia, Lake Bonney is a freshwater lake which is fed from the Murray River and the town on Barmera is located on the shore of the lake. We stayed in  our caravan in the caravan park with a group of friends who all had camper trailers, 10 adults and 5 children, so it was a busy weekend but a lot of fun too. Lake Bonney We had our meals together, mostly, but of course with children things don't always go to plan, but the men cooked our roast meats for our Sunday night roast, which was great. Men at work! Barmera is the jewel of the Riverland. The geographical centre of this amazing place is the sparkling fresh water lake which is safe for families, making Barmera the ideal location for your holiday experience. A very full caravan park And of course the  women did the washing up afterwards!
