Next morning we set off for the Herberton Historic Village and were very impressed with the many interesting exhibits covering 16 acres. At the check in desk we were offered a second day's visit if required for the same price which was a good option if needed.
The village is set out just like it would have been in the old days from around 1880 with streets of shops, hotel, etc. The displays in each of the buildings was amazing with most things actually coming from the Herberton area. We had lunch in the Hotel which had a good selection of food and drinks.
The 70 metre suspension bridge crosses the Wild River and links both sides of the river with more displays of old vehicles and farm machinery and the Herberton Railway which is run by volunteers so we took the short ride to their workshop area where we were given a short tour of the projects and their finished carriages then back on the train to the Village.
Among the beautiful bush setting were some interesting sculptures as well as displays of old machinery, tractors and cars.
Wow what a fun place to visit I could spend a lot of time there as well. Love all the old vehicles and the Rail ambulance
ReplyDeleteThere were many more old vehicles than I photographed. Ron took a lot of photos of the rusty stuff, but it was amazing to see so much of the past. Thanks for your comments.
