Burra is a historic tourist town in the mid north of South Australia. It lies east of the Clare Valley in the Bald Hills, part of the northern Mount Lofty Ranges.

On our way to Burra we passed through Clare, a wine growing area in South Australia.
We stayed in Burra at the Paxton Square cottages which were once the Miners Cottages and have now been renovated with everything we wanted for a nice weekend, including air conditioning, two doonas just in case one was not enough, a kitchen with everything we needed and a modern bathroom and a comfortable lounge room - perfect!
Fantastic shots and mosaics!
ReplyDeleteThanks Martha for your comment.
DeleteI love the way you showcase our country. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteEC, we are so lucky to live here.
DeleteRosie - so glad to see you back at Mosaic Monday! And what a treat to have a weekend away. It is something we have all taken for granted, and now it is a GIFT. Beautiful country!
ReplyDeleteAngie, yes it was great to get away even for a weekend.
DeleteLovely to see the valley again.
ReplyDeleteThe caravan park in Burra is near opposite those cottages from memory.
Good photos Rosie.
Take care.
Margaret, yes opposite the caravan park where we have stayed a few times. We like the Burra area and have also camped at Burra Creek Gorge. Ron's great grandparents came from there.
DeleteLovely blue skies and scenery.
ReplyDeleteLady Fi, the blue sky was lovely but we only had it for 1 day then it rained!
DeleteI agree that rusty cars are always worth a look. Seems like a great area to visit - but then again, anywhere but my back yard would be great to visit!
ReplyDeleteCheers - Stewart M - Locked Down Melbourne
Stewart, I hope you will be able to get out and about soon, it must be getting difficult to be in lockdown for so long.
DeleteSo beautiful pics
ReplyDeleteWe went to Claire and Burra when we were in South Australia several years ago. It is a lovely area. I was hoping to come back through that way this year...oh well... maybe next year...Thanks for taking us back there. Stay safe, happy travels and thank you for visiting my blog this week.
ReplyDeleteJill, I do hope you can get back here soon, it's been too long to not be able to go where we want but it is necessary too and we are better off here in Aus than in many other countries so the rules and regulations pay off.
DeleteAn interesting area. The rusty vehicles add another dimension.
ReplyDeleteNice photos.
ReplyDeleteWorth a Thousand Words
There's just something about rust! And a horse grazing under the shade of a tree! Thanks for so many beautiful photos of a lovely area.
ReplyDeleteSo many great photos
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo-Anne.
DeleteGreat mosaics and photos but what is a doona? I'm from the SE USA and have no clue. But you seem happy to have had two of them.
ReplyDeleteDawn aka Spatulas On Parade
Dawn, thanks for your comments. A doona is a quilt and I think it may have originally been a brand name. It was very cold overnight in Burra but we didn't need the extra doona as we found it was too heavy!
Deletelittle church looks so interesting....all are beautiful photos.
