Linking to Sunday Selections #461
Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.
As the song of Nat King Cole goes, the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer are here but mostly CRAZY and HAZY.

The Adelaide Hills have many wineries and the fires have burnt many of them |
We are fortunate that the bushfires have not directly affected us here, although they came quite close. We have friends who have suffered but have still got their houses but their land and outbuildings are burnt.
It is awful. Many have lost their homes and everything that they have worked hard for. I don't know how they will get back on their feet after this, but there have been bushfires before and will probably be more again as that is Australia and we are resilient.

We live about half way between the city of Adelaide and the area marked in RED, the shaded green area is the Adelaide Hills and we are in the foothills area. |

I am sure Nat King Cole never had this in mind when he was singing. |
The HAZY is the smoke from all the bushfires and the dust from the dry land.
There have been so many fires all around the country and the amazing firefighters have been on the job for weeks. They are the heroes of our country.
Now for the LAZY.
We have been sitting around watching movies, eating leftovers and watering the garden and filling up the bird baths as it is HOT here, 40C and higher.

The country is so dry, and no sign of rain here.
LOVE your Sunday Selections. Thank you so much for joining us. And yes, our poor tired firies most definitely are heroes. Sadly there doesn't appear to be any end in sight at the moment. I think (and could be wrong) that only Tasmania and the Northern Territory aren't affected.
ReplyDeleteAussies need all that resilience right now, don't they? So much terror and loss. I'm glad you are looking after the birds and animals, there have been so many lost already. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteSo many heart wrenching photos of fires and destruction, I have cousins and a bro in-law who are volunteer fire fighters .
ReplyDeleteThe fires are heartbreaking for those in its path. Keep safe!
