Day 8 of our cruise and we arrived in Napier and caught the shuttle bus into the lovely town of Napier. On our previous cruise we missed the port of Napier as the weather was too rough for our ship to berth so on this trip we were excited to see this Art Deco town , located in Hawke's Bay on the eastern coast of the North Island. The population of Napier is about 63,900.
We walked from the shuttle drop off point in the city centre and were greeted by the Scottish pipers, which was lovely as I do have a Scottish grandparent and love the sound of the bagpipes.

Completed in 1936 as offices for the Temperance & General Insurance Co., it was one of the city’s largest commercial buildings. The Dome is now a boutique hotel.

The Six Sisters were built along Marine Parade in the late 19th century. Architect Robert Lamb was hired by a prominent businessman to design near-identical, two-story residences for his six daughters. Surprisingly, the wooden structures suffered little damage during the 1931 Hawke’s Bay earthquake. They are now mix-use of apartments, boutique shops plus a bar and grill.

Great collection of photos of Napier. The vintage cars are looking good, the buildings, the definition sign, the garden so much to see. Love bagpipes myself, used to do Scottish dancing once.
