Ou West - Day 22, 23, 24, 25, 26

Don, Jill, Rosie

Day 22

We left our overnight stop at Nannup and continued on our way to Busselton.  The roadside greenery is looking a bit black after the bushfires, but there are still some wildflowers.  The area is mainly farming with crops.  We took the Bussell Highway heading to Dunsborough.  As it is still raining we are going to stay the night at the Dunsborough Holiday Park and I will get the chores done before meeting our friends in a day or two.

Day 23 - Busselton

Located a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Perth, Busselton Jetty is situated in the Margaret River Wine Region.

Extending 1.841km out from Geographe Bay, the Jetty is a heritage listed icon for the seaside town of Busselton and is the longest timber-piled jetty in the Southern Hemisphere!

Busselton Jetty is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Western Australia, and it has a long history to cement this title.

We did some shopping in Busselton and walked around the Jetty Precinct which is a lovely area but too cold and wet for me to walk the length of the jetty.

After lunch we drove out to Yallingup and then to Cape Naturaliste.

Cape Naturaliste is the northernmost point of the Leeuwin-Naturaliste Ridge and separates the relatively sheltered waters of Geographe Bay from the southern Indian Ocean..

We enjoyed watching the huge waves crashing but it was so windy and cold we sought the warmth of the car and headed back to the caravan.

Day 24

We left the Dunsborough Holiday Park and headed to Margaret River where we are going to meet our friends from Perth.  We are so looking forward to seeing them as we have been friends for over 50 years and have only been able to meet up a few times in that time.

Our friends rang us while we driving to Margaret River and told us about a nice little caravan park at Gracetown, a small village not far from where we were, so we headed to the caravan park.  It was so great to catch up with them after so many years so we had a few drinks and a lot of chatting.

Day 25

After a good night we all headed off to the small town of Cowaramup for coffee and cake and a look around the town.  As the name suggests, there were plenty of "cow" signs and sculptures so we got a few happy snaps.

Then on to Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse.

Some chocolate tasting and some for the road
There were some great sculptures too.

Day 26

We left Gracetown and headed to the town of Augusta and the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse.
