Ravensthorpe Silo Art Our first stop after leaving Hopetoun was Ravensthorpe, about a 30 minute drive. We spent an hour or so looking around the small town, got fuel and then heded off again. We stopped along the way to take some photos of the wild flowers as they were everywhere and so beautiful.
The next town was Jerramungup, a small town of about 1,000 residents.
Jerramungup was about 100 km from Ravensthorpe. We stopped at the Information Centre and got some brochures on some of the places we wanted to see in the coming days. The Information Centre was very helpful and we got some brochures and information about Albany where we were planning to spend a few days.

Our next stop our was at Bremer Bay, we had a short walk along the beach which was quite windy, We decided to continue on our trip and looked for a rest area. Bemer Bay is a beautiful bay but there had been a storm overnight and the Estuary water was flowing into the sea.

Bremer Bay |
We found a nice area about 65 km from Bremer Bay, near a bridge, it was off the road and apart from traffic on the bridge it looked to be a nice area and we thought the road traffic at night would not be too busy so we found a good spot to pull up. There were a few other caravans already there and a few more pulled in after us, but there was still plenty of space between everyone. The rest area is designated rest area for caravans and campers and there were rubbish bins and picnic tables and the whole area was quite tidy.

Pallinup River rest area |
We had a good overnight stay at Pallinup River which was a very pretty spot to camp and there were a small number of campers there, but not too many to be cramped in, but enough to feel comfortable. We left Pallinup River before 9 am and soon came across some roadworks so there was a detour and a dirt road which we weren't very pleased about but it's all part of travelling so we just drove carefully.

We arrived in Albany by about 11.30 am and booked into the Albany Gardens Caravan Park. We unhitched the van as we planned on staying a few days and we were wanting to do some sightseeing in this lovely area.

An old rusty shed is always good to see |
After having some lunch at a nice little cafe in town, we drove to the National Anzac Centre which is set in a 250 hectare park setting about 3 km from Albany. It is such an interesting Museum and unlike any we have been to. On entering you are able to assume the character of an Anzac and then take a personal journey of that person and their life during the war. It was a very moving experience. My husband's great Uncle died in Egypt during the war and we were able to get some more information about his time there which sadly was only a few days. There were so many exhibits and information and everything was so well done, there was even a ride up to a lookout for those that couldn't walk the distance. We spent a long time exploring all the exhibits both inside and out and luckily the weather was good.
At the end of the tour of the Museum we were so tired, but it was such a wonderful museum it was worth the effort.
