Travelling to Canowindra,Cowra, Moruya

Day 6 - from my diary in 2018

We arrived in Canowindra on a  lovely sunny morning and set up in the caravan park in a really nice setting so we are looking forward to a few days looking around the area.

Day 7 - We woke up to another lovely sunny but cool morning and noticed the hot air balloons so we sat outside and watched them while we had our coffee.   What a lovely surprise to see them, they were so beautiful but I don't think I would be wanting to go up in one.

Day 8 - We left Canowindra and headed for the next town of Cowra, where we decided to have a look at the Japanese Gardens that had been recommended to us.  They are set in 12.5 acres and are apparently the largest Japanese Gardens in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Garden is located on the site of the World War Two Japanese prisoner of war camp and the site of the infamous Cowra break out in 1944 – a story of great courage, spirit and futility. The garden was built to commemorate the Japanese prisoners of war who died at the breakout.

After visiting the very beautiful and peaceful Japanese Gardens we  headed off to Moruya and soon we were at the caravan park.  We were happy to be staying in one place for the next 10 days.

A beautiful tree near our caravan site

Day 9 - Weather was overcast so we decided to head to Bateman's Bay and on the way stopped at a little town called Mogo then on to Bateman's Bay where we had lunch at a seafood restaurant which was right on the waterfront.
On the way back we stoppped at a small beach called Maloney's Beach, had a short walk around and saw some kangaroos, then on to a few other small beaches before heading back to Moruya.

I'm afraid of heights so I have never had a desire to actually go up in a hot air balloon, but the views I have seen pictures from them are amazing! If I was braver...

The main street looks like it was just recently redone--sealed or tarred or whatever. Really a beautiful little town...and gorgeous beaches nearby. I can see why you'd like to spend several days there.

That Garden! How peaceful and beautiful. Sad for the reason it was made, but it is just stunning.

Have a wonderful weekend! :)

Lovely area and your travels make me remember when we were down that way. Didn't see the beautiful Japanese Garden though. Loved the kangaroos on the beach.
