All British Day

A great day out today at Echunga in the Adelaide Hills.  We left home quite early at about 8.30 am which was an early start for me, but it was necessary as we were booked in to All British Day which is a huge car display of British cars.  We have a 1985 Jag which Ron has been  polishing and making sure it goes well ready for the big day out.  We have gone to this Day most years for the last 20 years at least, except for a couple of years during Covid when it was cancelled.  As our car is quite old and we don't drive it on a regular basis Ron has to make sure everything is working well for a big drive, especially on a hot day, as we have on occasions had to have it towed back home on a flatbed truck which is not my idea of a fun day out.  Well, today was quite cool and we got there and back without any problems so that was good.  Here are some photos of a few of the cars on display so I hope you aren't too bored with them.

Lotus 7 (probably mid 1960's)

Bentley

Mini

Morgans

Our old Jag

This motorbike was getting a dust off and polish

There were also some old trucks and tractors

The cars are located around two ovals and are in their brand and club order but some are also in clubs such as Sporting so there are a lot to see.   I think my second favourite car is the MG and of course I think the red ones are lovely and they go faster too!
The whole day is very well organised with a lot of marshals directing the cars to their designated parking spot and we were given a map of the area with details of arrival time, gate entry etc.  We had to book and pay many months in advance as there are so many clubs that are involved in the day.  Visitors park in a different area nearby. There are many tents with memorabilia, spare parts etc. as well as a good range of food and drinks.  Most of the car clubs are allowed to put up a marquee for members to sit under which is why we wanted to arrive early as we didn't want a long walk with our chairs and it was good with only a short walk. My husband had his pedometer and at the end of the day he had walked about 5 km but I only did about 2km.  Ron likes to look thoroughly at all of them and then of course he meets up with other enthusiasts while I sit in the marquee and talk with friends and have a glass of bubbly.

Wow, so many beautiful old cars to look at. Weren't they so much fun, I think nowadays most cars look the same.

I think the older cars were much more distinctive. I agree--they all look the same these days. I also love red cars! ;)

Your day out sounds like a lot of fun - and walking for your husband. You would have just loved to be here in Taranaki where I was recently during "Americana", a whole week of American Car Culture. They change the venue each day so you can see the old classics on the roads, as they move between venues, including hot rods and motorbikes like Harley Davidson and Indian Motorcycles.

A great collection of classic cars. Your Jag looks really good. Loved all the cars and I think you had a good idea to sit with friends and a bubbles.
