X for eXMOUTH, Western Australia

Vlamingh Head Lighthouse, 17 km north of Exmouth

Vlamingh Head Lighthouse

Exmouth is a small coastal town about 1250 km from Perth, the capital of Western Australia and about 3,800 km from Adelaide.  It has a beautiful coastline with sparkling turquoise waters and the Ningaloo Reef which fringes the coast and is 260 km long and is Australia's largest fringing coral reef.

Beautiful Exmouth coastline

Ningaloo is recognised as one of the world's important nesting grounds for the green and loggerhead turtles.

The shipwreck of the SS Mildura can be seen from the coast off Exmouth.  The SS Mildura was a cattle steamer and was wrecked in 1907 during a cyclone.

We drove out to Yardie Creek in Cape Range National Park, about 70km from Exmouth.  Yardie Creek has a permanent water source.

Yardie Creek

Yardie Creek is a unique feature of Cape Range National Park as it has a permanent water source that flows between the spectacular sheer cliffs, known as Yardie Creek Gorge.

What a beautiful, wild place!
Your hear how those old wrecks become like habitats for sea life over time.
Looks quite isolated and peaceful.
Beautiful expansive sunset! :)
