Our WA trip in 2017 revisited
My diary says that on Day 9 of our trip we drove the Great Ocean Drive around Esperance. This ocean drive was about 40 km and we took our time driving around the beaches and looking around. We took about 5 hours to do the trip but it could have been done in less time if you didn't get out of the car or walk around, and of course we could have taken longer if we had done more walking.
Our first stop on the scenic drive was Rotary Lookout. The views here were amazing and in the distance was the Recherche Archipeligo. It is known locally as the Bay of Isles and is a group of 105 islands and stretch 230 km from east to west.
West Beach
Our next stop was at West Beach, another beautiful beach with very blue water and views.
Blue Haven was next on our scenic drive and another lovely beach in a protected bay so it would be good for swimming, but not for us.

We didn't stay long at some of the beaches but enjoyed the beautiful views.

Fourth Beach |
We continued on to Fourth Beach where dolphins are sometimes seen but not while we were there.

Twilight Beach |
The next beach was Twilight Beach, and I am not sure if it would have been a good beach to view at twilight but it was a really beautiful beach in mid afternoon.

At Picnic Beach there were some Information boards describing the many wildflowers found in the area.

Observatory Point |
Next on the Scenic Drive was Observatory Point and here we stretched our legs a bit more as there was a boardwalk up to the lookout.

From here we continued on to Ten Mile Lagoon.
This was our last stop on the Scenic Drive. All the beaches were really beautiful and I think we were lucky to have good weather which brought out the colour of the water which was amazing.
We had great day out in Esperance and looking forward to another interesting day in beautiful Esperance.
Beautiful beaches and coloured sea there.
ReplyDeleteLovely lookout too.
Margaret, we loved Esperance and would like to go back again.
DeleteWhat gorgeous beaches. What a wonderful trip that must have been! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteCheri, the beaches and the trip were great. Take care.
DeleteJust beautiful - though the steps to the lookout look gruelling.
ReplyDeleteI notice that social distancing was in play too - more than ten years too early.
It is chilly here this morning and your photos are heartwarming. Thank you.
EC- yes, those steps were a bit of a struggle but the view was worth it, and I needed that rest at the top. Take care.
DeleteAwesome photos
ReplyDeleteJo-Anne, I am glad you are enjoying the photos. Take care.

DeleteOh my goodness, these beaches look so serene and peaceful! I miss the beach! Hoping to go in a few weeks. Seems like the perfect getaway in such a weird season. I always feel so refreshed after a beach trip!
