Our Blue-Tongued lizard in the back yard |
I noticed this beautiful lizard when I was gardening as I heard him rustling around on top of our retaining wall. He looks pretty healthy so he obviously gets enough food, but I did put out some small pieces of watermelon and he came back to get it.
Lake Albert, Meningie, South Australia
We spent a few days relaxing at Lake Albert and a few day trips from the lake to the Coorong.

Pelican Parade - view from our caravan
|
The Pelicans would parade past most mornings and were like an army marching, they would all dive down together at the same time, then straight up again, then down again .. it was so interesting and I watched them for ages. It was as if they were swimming to a special command, but I couldn't work out who was giving the orders!!
The Coorong, South Australia
Coorong National Park is a 130km stretch of saltwater lagoons protected from the Southern Ocean by the sweeping sand dunes.
The Coorong is a place of tranquility, solitude and wonderment. ... The Coorong, derived from an Aboriginal word karangk meaning narrow neck, is one of the most breathtaking national parks in Australia. Be a guest of the Ngarrindjeri people, the traditional custodians of these places for over 6,000 years

Interesting plant spotted on our Coorong drive |
LOVE the pelicans and the blue tongue in particular. We do have some bizarre birds and animals - and I am very fond of them.
ReplyDeleteEC- glad you like the pelicans too, and I agree they are quite an unusual bird. I wish I had taken a video of them doing their parade as it was like synchronised swimming!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen pelicans ever and I would so love to see one someday! I think they are huge birds. here in the Philippines, most birds are small in sizes except for our chickens haha. But that lizard looks very sleek and sophisticated!
ReplyDeleteSending greetings down under!

Thanks for your comments. There are always pelicans here around the lakes, they are a very large bird and if there is fish around they can eat a lot!
DeleteAwesomephotos, Tim & Leo both love Blue Tongue Lizards
ReplyDeleteThe blue tongue lizards are lovely, we used to have one in our yard for quite a few years and found it run over when we came home one day, so I took it to the vet but I think it didn't survive, but I just couldn't let it stay on the road without any help.
DeleteAwww I am sure he appreciated it and what a beautiful place to camp!
ReplyDeleteTanya, the lizard did eat the watermelon pretty quickly, probably something different from its usual diet.
ReplyDeleteLove all the bird shots! They posed nicely for you.
