The small town of Cunnamulla has a population of approximately 1100 but I think when we were there it had increased by quite a lot as the Big Red Bash had brought a lot of tourists into the town on their way home. We were lucky to get into the caravan park just after lunch, but very soon it was full and even overflowing. We unhitched our van and did a tour around the town.

The Cunnamulla Fella |
There is a song sung by Slim Dusty called the Cunnamulla Fella. In 2005 a larger than life sculpture was sculpted by Archie St Clair which depicts a typical Aussie bushman sitting on his swag. Behind the sculpture is the Cunnamulla Centre which has a great film and display of the Artesian Basin in Australia where many outback areas of Qld and some other areas get their water. The first artesian flow was near Cunnamulla in 1887.

The Warrego River |
The Warrego River is a northern tributary of the Darling River and is the 5th longest river in Australia. In 1990 Cunnamulla was flooded when the Warrego River reached 10 mtrs high.

A Queenslander
This house I photographed is what I call a typical "Queenslander" with an iron roof, raised on stilts to allow for circulation of air in the hot and humid climate, and wide verandahs. I think this house is beautiful.
