Our World Tuesday

Our World Tuesday
4th June 2019

Last year we spent a week in the Flinders Ranges, South Australia.  We try to go there every year as it is one of our favourite places.  We used to go camping with our children in our tent, then progressed to a small caravan, then one with a shower/toilet and in 2010 we bought our present van with a larger ensuite and a few more little extras to make caravanning easier for us as we are not as young now!

Our campsite at Farina was near the fence line of Farina Station.  When we arrived there were quite a few caravans and tents already set up.  The camping area is huge with lots of lovely gum trees scattered around and also fire pits for use by the campers.  We didn't want to be too close to other campers, and some were obviously travelling together so we decided to drive through the camping area to the far side near the fence and although we didn't have the lovely trees for shade we were happy to be away from the crowds (and the toilets).

We left Farina after a few days there and headed back towards Adelaide but stopped off for a few nights at Willow Waters, near Hawker, South Australia.

Willow Waters is a privately owned station but the owners open part of their property for camping.  It is the most beautiful camping area and we were able to get a spot by the creek with lovely gum trees nearby but not too close as to be a danger of falling branches.

  3. That sunset is amazing, nothing like a good Aussie sunset in the bush.
    The campsite looks good.
Haven't been to the Ranges as such, driven past though several times years ago, doubt if we will go there now.

    1. Its a pity you did n't get to the Flinders Ranges but you can't see everything. We are lucky to travel here in Australia.

    1. I love travelling in Australia, and yes we are very lucky to be able to do it. Our first caravan was quite small but we had some great trips but as we get older I do like some creature comforts!!
