Our World Tuesday

Our World Tuesday Graphic
16th April 2019

In 2015 we towed our caravan up to the north of Australia and these photos are from Litchfield National Park where we stayed for a few days.  The butterflies were in a private tourist park where we wandered around to see these beautiful butterflies.  They were very hard to photograph as they don't stay still for long, these were the best of many that I took.

We stayed in Darwin for a week  and I will put photos up on another post later to show you the many sights of Darwin.

The photos below were taken in the Wetlands on our way to Kakadu National Park.

We drove on to Bark Hut where we stayed for a few days and did a Wetlands Tour of the Mary River and as you can see from the photos we saw some amazing crocodiles and birdlife.  The crocodile was huge and we were only in a very small outboard motor boat and I noticed after we had been on the river for a while that there were no life jackets, only to be told that if we fell in or even placed our arms on the side of the boat that the crocodiles would get us before anyone else could, so I made sure I kept my arms in!  The water was full of crocodiles and it apparently has the most crocodiles of any river in the Northern Territory.

This monster swam up out of the river onto the bank to rip apart a dead buffalo - not a pretty sight but amazing!

  2. Oh wow! How beautiful!
Pretty scary, though, that they felt life jackets were worthless.

  4. Yikes! Those crocodiles are fearsome looking. Sounds like an adventure I'd avoid. Your other excursions, however, look like fun.
My post features a hike in the “Issaquah Alps,” Washington State, USA.
