Fantastic February

Brighton Beach

Some of the Surf Lifesavers

February is usually the hottest month here in Adelaide. We have had a very dry summer as well so I have spent quite some time trying to keep the garden alive!

Last Friday afternoon we headed to Brighton beach to check out the Sculptures which is an annual event.  It was a really hot afternoon, around 37C but we thought it might be cooler at the beach.  It was still very warm but after we stopped off for an ice cream we felt better and walked along the boardwalk to enjoy the sculptures.  Here are some photos to enjoy.

The Brighton Jetty Sculptures event is run by volunteers of the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club. With funds raised going back into the club to help keep our beach safe for all visitors.

The event has won the City of Holdfast Bay - Australia Day Award and is recognised with Major Event status with the council.

  1. 37C. Can't remember when I last experienced that. Nice series with all the sculptures.

  2. Do they change the sculptures there or do they remain the same? Wow! Such a wide variety of interesting ones! As usual, the most colorful one caught my eye the fastest--lol! (peacock) But there are many beautiful works. Thanks for sharing these. :)

  3. hanks Rita, the sculptures are different each year but they remain the same for a few weeks as some are for sale and then they are removed. It is a fundraising event for the Surf Lifesaving Club as many of our beaches have a safe patrolled between flags on the beach as we get a few sharks from time to time and it makes swimming safe if people swim between the flags.

  4. Thanks Diane for your comment. We always enjoy going to the beach to see the sculptures, but this year was very hot and we were quite tired, so didn't enjoy it as much. Our age is catching up with us and the weather here has been very hot and dry and seems to be harder to cope with than other years. I hope you are well.
