We had another car run in our Jag this last weekend, this time to a great pub in the small little town of Freeling in South Australia, about 60km north of Adelaide and no it is not free and was named after a Surveyor General of Adelaide. Freeling is probably most famously known for the filming of the TV serues, MacLeod's Daughters, between 2001 and 2009 and the (renamed) Gungellan Hotel featured in many episodes.

The Gungellan Hotel |
We met at a Bakery for coffee, a few kilometres from our house, and the organiser had some printed maps and directions for us to make our way at our own pace as some of the Jags are getting a bit old (and the drivers too) and some members don't always take their Jaguar on the runs, so everyone travels at a speed that suits them and doesn't hold up the general traffic.

Breakneck Cutting in Tea Tree Gully |
This cutting is known by the locals as Breakneck Cutting and is a huge cutting in the rock through which the North East Road passes on route through the Adelaide Hills.

Freeling |
We had a lovely drive through the hills and the Barossa Valley and arrived at Freeling and the Gungellan Hotel for lunch. The hotel is known these days for its wonderful meals and we weren't disappointed.

We had a great day out and enjoyed meeting up with friends and then back home to watch the Paris 2024 Olympics.
I had never heard of MacLeod's Daughters. I found it on Amazon Prime so added it to my watchlist. Looks like it was a nice trip there and an interesting place to visit. Have a great week! :)
ReplyDeleteWe have visited south Australia a couple of times. But there obviously is so much more to see. Lovely photos
