Day 20 from my Diary in 2018- Moruya to Orbost
We left Moruya after a great stay there and headed to Orbost after crossing from New South Wales into Victoria. Before we left Moruya we took one last walk around the town and here are some photos of the interesting sculptures.
After leaving Moruya we arrived in Orbost and stopped by the river where another caravan was set up which made me feel that it would be a safe area to stay, so we had our lunch and before long the other caravanners arrived so we had a chat and they reassured me that it was a lovely spot and very safe and quiet so we decided to stay.

Beautiful Sunset on the river at Orbost
We reluctantly left our lovely spot by the river in Orbost, said goodbye to our neighbours who had been so friendly and told us they wer travelling on the road full time and were enjoying their travels. We're not sure we would could travel full time as we would miss our granchildren and family and we are happy to do our smaller trips. We headed to Omeo, a small historic gold mining town on the Great Alpine Road. The scenery on the way was beautiful but quite a winding road. We then drove a few more kms to Hinnomunjie on the banks of the Mitta Mitta River and found the lovely camping area where we stayed a few days. It was a free camping area so everyone is expected to leave the site clean and tidy and most people do, but the sign is there to remind campers to do the right thing otherwise the free camping will be closed.

It is a beautiful area and there were only a couple of other vans so it was very quiet and peaceful and we enjoyed looking around and watching the birds on the river.

Day 20 Diary 24/3/2018We left Omeo and Hinnomunjie on the Mitta Mitta River and travelled on the Alpine Way, which was a very slow trip as the weather had deteriorated and our visibility was only a few metres through a very winding road with lots of fog and rain so we were happy to reach the town of Bright without any mishaps along the way.

The statues were a bit different looking, but all the river views were wonderful. Yes, tents are not great in the rain. I remember that from when I was a kid on the family camping trips. Having a camper is the way to go! :)
ReplyDeleteHmm. Yes, I would definitely call those sculptures interesting. With so many lovely river views, that looked to be a great trip
ReplyDeleteI love your travels and photos. The land looks so gentle and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThose trees with their Autumn leaves are a sight to behold. Ours weren't so good last year.
