Carrieton caravan park on our way north to the Flinders Ranges |
The Caravan Park in Carrieton was formerly the local school and now is a beautiful little park which has 16 caravan sites, some non-powered sites, a bunkhouse and a cottage as well as showers and toilet facilities.

The Carrieton Hotel was originally opened in 1879 and has been recently restored and is now a family owned hotel.
We always have a walk around the town once we have settled into the park. There are quite a few old buildings which are now mostly derelect as the town has only about 40 residents but it is a lovely old town with an interesting history and a community that is keen to keep the town alive and we try to visit here when we can.
These lovely mosaics are on a community building and represent the rodeo which is still held annually at the Recreation Ground.

The caravan park with its 16 van sites, looks nice and has lovely views. Your information on rural Carrieton and its community (only 40 residents) is interesting!
I love your photo with the charming gathering of the Galahs.
Hi Rosie!
I can't imagine a flock of galahs in the trees. Emus running about. I remember your blog showing me a whole different world. So glad you commented so I could pop over and hopefully stay in touch. I used to follow via email notifications but Blogger cut me off long time ago--won't let me writer back to commenters like I used to, either. Not that I am the most regular commenter on blogs, truth be told--especially these past two years with the cancer battle and all, but I try--and am feeling better. Now I am on your official "follower" list--tada! Best to you and the hubby! :)
