Riverboats at Mildura

Paddle Boat Mundoo

In 2012 we did a trip to Mildura for the Riverboat Festival.  It was a great weekend and there were dozens of Riverboats of all shapes and sizes going up and down the river.  On one of the days we were able to go for a ride on the boats and it was a lot of fun.

Broken Hill

After our weekend at Mildura we headed off to Mungo National Park which is part of the Willandra Region World Heritage Site.  There are ancient aboriginal cultural and archaeological treasures which can be viewed either by foot or by a guided tour.  It is a huge area of about 1,000 square kilometres.

We walked around the Walls of China believed to be over 36,000 years old.  It was amazing to see and to imagine what it would have been like back then!

The Mungo Woolshed was built in 1869 as part of Gol Gol Station.

There is something beautiful about old shearing sheds and  we love them.

Next stop was Broken Hill  and a trip out to the old town of Silverton, an old silver mining town about 26 km from Broken Hill

What wonderful pictures and memories! I'd love to be on one of those riverboats!
As always I adore your photos which show me some areas of our big country that I have seen, and others that fill me with wander lust.
One of my brothers enjoyed a two week holiday on a paddle steamer and it sounded like a HEAP of fun.

That was a great trip you did. Love the riverboats. Favourite holidays are on riverboats out of Mannum. I agree Broken Hill is an interesting town with some wonderful old buildings and Silverton is a gem. Nice memories.

Lovely photos Rosie.
Great place is Mildura. Shearing sheds, well that's another story you have to stand in one, smell it and imagine what went on or what goes on.
I was chatted up in Broken Hill several years ago whilst waiting for my husband..lol, interesting.
Silverton is just something else, great pub. Heard it was for sale, maybe someone bought it by now.

The riverboats are beautiful and they take you back to a different era. We enjoy trips on them whenever we can.

It was a great trip and I hadn't looked at my photos for a while so it brought back memories. Hopefully we might get to do that trip again when we can cross the borders!

Broken Hill is a bit like the "wild west", but a great place with so many interesting buildings and art. We love it there. Have you been to Bells Cafe, it's just like the 50's style Milk Bar and they have the best Milkshakes too.
So many amazing photos that I so liked
