Some of our Australian Birds

Rainbow Lorikeet in our Corymbia Ficifolia

We are so fortunate to have these beautiful birds come in to feed on our trees.  This tree is only 2 years old and this is the first time it has flowered so we are very happy that the birds like it as much as we do.

This magpie family come on to our front verandah several times a day and if we don't say hullo and give them some food they sit and warble until their food arrives.   The male magpie can get quite aggressive towards the other birds that come down to feed, and also  to his offspring and in this photo the baby got too close while feeding even though the parents are still feeding him, he also feeds on his own at times.

This family of magpies has been coming to our front yard for several years now and we have seen and fed their offspring each year for most of the year.

Musk Lorikeet and Noisy Miner

These little Musk Lorikeets do not come into our garden very often so it was lovely to see them.  When our new flowering gum first flowered the parrots were enjoying the flowers, but when the the rainbow lorikeets discovered the flowers the little musk lorikeets kept away, but  they enjoy the fresh water we put in the bird baths every day.

Rainbow Lorikeets

On  one of the extremely hot days we had all these rainbow lorikeets come in and sit around the birdbath,  they looked really hot but I hope they enjoyed the water although they didn't seem to be drinking, not sure why.  The next day when it was a bit cooler they all came in again and splashed around in the water.
